Snowflake Waltz is the inaugural exhibition of ArtPort, the newly established cultural space in
the historic Cornell Steamboat Building along the Rondout Creek in Kingston. ArtPort’s aim is to be a destination for art experiences and unconventional interaction between contemporary art and a wide range of audiences.
“Snowflake Waltz” is a holiday exhibition celebrating the traditions of the winter season — take a stroll through trees filled with ornaments and the unexpected.
ArtPort’s curator Laurie De Chiara, has invited artists and makers to share their creations for this festive
exhibition of sculptural installations, objects, painting and ornamentation and to transform the upper deck of the Cornell building into a magical space.
ArtPort’s genesis illustrates why the endeavor is so unique.
First came Fleet Obsolete*, an organization dedicated to the restoration of WWII PT Boats. Now that singular endeavor has grown to include programming inspired by the environmental, cultural and historical heritage of the Roundout Creek.
