Poetry in Science Reading Series

Capital Region poets will read selections of their works that have been inspired by the sciences. Dr. Kate Gillespie will share her and selected scientist’s poetic words. Enjoy the analytical to the creative side of STEAM!

Sally Rhoades has been a part of the Albany poetry scene since 1990 doing her first open mic at the QEII run by Tom Nattell. She divides her time between NYC and Albany and Poetry/plays and performance. Her performance work has been presented throughout the U.S. and Montreal. She has been published in various journals and on-line publications. She received her MA in creative writing in 1995 from the University of Albany

Tess Lecuyer enjoys the fabulous urban life offered by downtown Albany and has been living there in various apartments since the 1980s. She has had poems published in many journals in the US and overseas, such as The Snail’s Pace Review, 13th Moon, Poets Who Cook, Poems That Go Thump in the Dark, Confluence, and ORE, Up The River, performed her poetry at many, many open mics, and has a chapbook, Loping Through The Fields of Abandon, published by Kew Gardens Press.

Tom Corrado coordinates the Rensselaerville Library’s bimonthly poetry group, manages the Library’s annual Poem-A-Day Project in celebration of National Poetry Month, and blogs at scriptsfortoday.blogspot.com.

Mark W. Ó Brien is a landscape photographer and a poet that is a native of upstate New York and has been widely published at home and abroad. Mark is proud to be an alumnus of the Fermoy International Poetry Festival in 2014, and the Blackwater International Poetry Festival in 2019. “My Childhood Appropriated.”, published by Foothills Publishing is his fourth poetry collection.
